The use of Whoever or Whomever. This is again a rule that I have either never paid attention to or never looked up before because I never felt the need to be so grammatically correct. But the rule seems really simple, it just requires a bit of thought.
Rule #1 him+he= whoever.
So, Give it to whoever/whomever asks for it first.
Give it to him. He asks for it first.
Rule #2 him+him= whomever
We will hire whoever/whomever you recommend.
We will hire him. You recommend him.
